Industry infoHungary has a long, proud and successful history of filmmaking. Whilst the fall of the Berlin wall and the newly opened borders revealed magical, long-hidden locations, it also brought into focus the country’s well-established infrastructure and highly trained local crews available at a fraction of the cost of those in Western Europe or North America. International productions choose Hungary again and again: in addition to serving a myriad of commercial shoots for worldwide brands, the country also provides the backdrop for many big-budget Hollywood productions: most recently, Showtime’s The Borgias was created on a purpose built lot at the state of the art Korda Studio Complex, the largest and most modern production facility in Europe, while 47 Ronin is being produced at the brand new Raleigh Studios. CrewGiven the constant turnover of high profile productions, international filmmakers have the opportunity to work in Hungary with experienced, professional, English speaking crews. Local crew members are perfectly at ease with mini or macro budgets, and are flexible, open and supportive. The standard workday is 12 hours including packing time and a lunch break of up to one hour. Equipment & post productionWe can coordinate and implement any aspect of your production in Hungary. Our services includes: budgeting, casting, crew hire, equipment, facilities, location scouting and post production. All equipment, including motion control rigs and a variety of cranes can be supplied by the rental houses. Anything that cannot be sourced locally can easily be brought in from neighbouring countries. The full range of processing and transfer is offered by post-production studios such as Kodak Lab or Hungarian Lab. Highly trained colourists with vast experience of foreign DOPs. Post-production companies offering the latest digital post and 3D animation technologies, with many big budget Hollywood productions on their resumes. Several studio complex standing sets are also available: a medieval castle and village, a full New York street back-lot and a prison-camp barracks. Best Value for MoneyHungary has been a member of the EU since May 2004, yet is still one of the most cost-effective shooting destinations in Europe: 12 hour working days, lower crew costs compared to Western Europe or North America, and economical location pricing. |
